"What a fantastic house! We have thoroughly enjoyed our little break here and only wish our own house was more like this."
"A wonderful hideaway – we love the fens."
This unique, stylish and award winning contemporary house was designed by the architect Jonathan Ellis-Miller as his own home in the late ‘80s and is constructed largely of steel and glass. The house was inspired by the Californian Case study houses of Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen and Richard Neutra and has been written about in several architecture books and journals. It has a wonderful free-standing open fire and overlooks Cambridgeshire’s historic Fens through a vast glass sliding wall. In the distance you can see Ely’s majestic cathedral, about three miles away. The house now has photovoltaic solar panels which generate around 60% of the energy used by the house. All of the electricity for the house is from 100% renewable sources.
Inside the house there’s a large living room with a central fireplace, a kitchen/dining room, a bedroom with a king size bed, an en-suite bathroom and a small wet room. The furniture enhances the original design of the house, and there are modern art and architectural books for you to read during your stay. Outside there’s a sun-trap garden with a lawn, a decked terrace with BBQ and undercover off-road parking.

The furniture includes iconic pieces by Robin Day and Eero Saarinen.
The other side of the fireplace you’ll find a reading room area with a sofa bed, books and more floor to ceiling glass windows with views across the Fens towards Ely.
Bedroom: This has a king size bed, bedside tables, a chest of drawers, mirror and views of the back garden.
