“Lovely immaculate property with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.”

Situated in a lovely village with a friendly local pub. Appreciated the fresh milk, butter, bacon and bread and doggy treats for our dog! The owners were also very helpful. We plan to return again.

“We had a lovely week at The Old Butcher’s Shop.”

The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. Booking the cottage and our instructions for arrival/departure couldn’t have been more straight forward. We usually holiday in our touring caravan but decided for a change this year. I was a little apprehensive about staying in a cottage with a dog, but my worries were unnecessary. It was immaculate and has actually converted us to holidaying in cottages more - so much easier than caravanning! We have come home totally relaxed and feeling well rested. I would absolutely recommend the Old Butcher’s Shop to anyone and would definitely use Sykes Cottages again.

“This cottage is perfect, everything as described.”

A lot of thought has been put in and lots of little things available that just make your stay that much more comfortable. The owners are lovely and nothing is too much trouble, answering queries rapidly and offering help. The location is great for seeing Norfolk, the village is quiet and the pub landlady’s and customers very friendly. Highly recommend and our dog gives this cottage a 10

“After a long exhausting journey from Canada, we arrived at the cottage that had been supplied with some basic food items, which allowed us to put together a simple but more than adequate meal.”

We were in Norfolk for our Mother's funeral. Having the cottage to come home to, made a difficult time, easier. Karina was a wonderful caring host. A minor issue with the heating system was taken care of immediately.

“Lovely cottage, clean comfortable and inviting Everything we needed was there and the gifts of food left were lovely.”

A great place to take a dog as you enter by a wooden floor and easy to clean up muddy paws. Definitely would recommend it.

“Oh my gosh, this place is beautiful, spotlessly clean first class furniture and the hosts don’t miss anything out, there is fresh eggs and bacon and milk in the fridge, doggy treats if you have a furry friend hand written welcoming card logs and kindling for the wood burner… you can not fault this.”

The pub is friendly and again allows your furry friend nice walks. I can say with out doubt this will be repeated in the summer time.. Thank you Karina and Jamie

“The Old Butchers Shop was the ideal property for us to stay in as we were attending a wedding and visiting family in Mildenhall.”

It allowed us to visit coastal areas such as Wells Next to the Sea, Hunstanton as well as Sandringham and Brandon Park. The village of Wareham was tranquil and had a nice village pub. The property was as it said "on the tin" immaculate and comfortable. What was missing though was a back garden?

“A really nice cosy house with plenty of room and well equipped.”

Brill to have plenty of coat hooks for hanging things on (something many properties don't do ) Lovely village location and nice pub. Beware bus service 40 to Kings Lynn coach operator only allow assistance dogs or dogs in carry cases. So don't plan a day out by bus with your pet!

“The cottage was a great getaway for us.”

It was just what we wanted, offering spotless and comfortable accommodation, tucked away in a peaceful, quiet location. The secure courtyard garden was great for our dog too so she was happy. Would definitely visit again we didn’t want to leave. We d like to thank the owners for the extra touches too they were very thoughtful.

King’s Lynn 11.5 miles.

The rural Saxon market town of Downham Market is one of the oldest in Norfolk, and is known locally as the gateway to the Fens, renowned for its network of waterways. Downham Market boasts an attractive black and white clock tower in its main square, and hosts a weekly outdoor market on Fridays and Saturdays selling mostly local produce, along with an additional fortnightly Saturday collectables and craft market.
