“Very disappointed with the cleanliness of the cottage when we arrived.”
Hoover was full to the brim, crumbs still in the fridge, food still left in cupboards. Someones empty pop bottle and tissues under my bed. The kitchen is very dated and the kettle and toaster really need replacing, the toaster is just full of burnt crumbs and the cooker/hob isnt good either. The lounge is full of really dark old furniture, and ornaments everywhere, collecting dust, we put our own throws down on the sofa as we really didn't want to sit on it! I appreciate it's an old cottage but the kitchen and lounge really need looking at, and modernising. It didn't feel like a holiday let, it was like we were living in another person's house with all their items and remnants there still. The sofa was uncomfortable and sunken in. The bathroom had been redone and that was perfectly fine. There are newspapers in the lounge that are years old! Surely this isn't acceptable in a holiday let? It all seemed very strange and not welcoming at all! We left 2 days early and came home. Very disappointed.
I am sorry that we have had a complaint for the guests staying on the above date. Our property is a typical 300 year old Norfolk Cottage and we have always wanted to keep the interior to be in keeping with the culture of its period. With regards to the cleaning, my cleaning company have looked after our property for 3-4 years and we have never had a review like this. We have left a note in the property that if a guest has a problem with the cleanliness or other issues with the property to contact the owner of the cleaning company who would deal with any issues. Whilst staying the full week, there was no contact with the cleaning company. This type of review is extremely hurtful to us as we pride ourselves with having such an idilic property. We have not changed the toaster and the kettle, as we have only had them 12 months and they have been pat tested. Newspapers are left in a basket ready for the open fire we have in the property and I really don’t see why this was even mentioned? All our other reviews have been wonderful and feel that this particular comment is unjustified. Regards Sue lovell
