“A beautiful cottage, very clean and comfortable in a lovely part of Norfolk.”

Plenty of information about Norfolk attractions kept in the cottage, very useful for planning days out. Owners very pleasant and helpful couple. It would be a minor improvement if the bath in the double room en-suite had a hand held shower. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

“The lawned garden space pictured is not solely for a use of the cottage but forms part of the main house grounds.”

This was disappointing, although the owners generously let us use it there are a set of goal posts which are not meant to be used by guests. Frustrating for our grandchildren . The cottage is in extremely close proximity to the owners house the table for eating out is within 8ft of the owners back door, we didn’t use it at all as completely overlooked. I would like to add the owners are very kind welcoming and discreet people but the pictures do not show the whole story and are therefore misleading.

“We recently stayed in Ferndale cottage for a short break away and we didn't want to leave!”

We had such a lovely 3 night stay. The cottage was really cosy but spacious and exceptionally clean. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We drove to Wells-next-the-sea one day and had a great family day out. Another day we drove to Melsop Farm which our little boy absolutely loved. We had a lovely meal in the near by Thai restaurant called The New Inn which we would highly recommend. Overall we had an amazing time for our first visit to Norfolk and this cottage was the perfect place to stay.

The comfort and facilities at the cottage are second to none and the location was very good. I would recommend this cottage to anybody wanting a quiet holiday or at just over 30 minutes to any part of the north Norfolk coast for beaches and 25 minutes from Sandringham.

The property

Dereham 5.4 miles. This wonderful, well-kept, detached holiday home, Ferndale, is located in East Bilney, close to Dereham, in the centre of Norfolk. It is tucked away on the peaceful grounds of the owner's home. Ferndale is the ideal escape in East Anglia for families, friends, or couples. It has an open-plan living area that is great for social gatherings, a private terrace, and plenty of off-road parking. Spiral stairs lead up to a galleried room with views of the picturesque surroundings and grounds, offering guests additional choice for their sleeping arrangements. This area is the perfect place to unwind with a nice book or a drink of wine. If you need some R&R, retire to one of the two tastefully decorated bedrooms on the ground floor. They are both spacious and come complete with en-suite bathrooms, allowing you to finish your crucial evening routine in private. Come home to this charming stone-faced house after a long day of sightseeing to relax with dinner and take in the pleasant atmosphere. Right outside your door are a variety of lovely walking and biking paths that snake through Norfolk's scenic countryside. The roads are also excellent for cycling. The cottage is close to Fakenham, which is well-known for its racetrack, traditional markets, and boutique shops. The area is rich of historical attractions and things to do. This is a great place to explore since it has sweeping sand dunes in front of the North Norfolk Heritage Coast and quaint tiny fishing communities spread further along the coast that are reachable by car. For couples and families searching for a getaway to this serene part of Norfolk, Ferndale provides a perfect home base.

Fakenham 12 miles; Norwich 18 miles; King’s Lynn 27 miles.

Just a stone’s throw from the A47, located in central Norfolk, is the popular market town of Dereham (known locally as East Dereham) with a heritage dating back to Saxon times. Today Dereham enjoys excellent local amenities, which include Bishop Bonner’s Cottage Museum, the magnificent 13th century church of St Nicholas, along with a wide selection of high street shops. On the edge of Dereham you can enjoy a journey on East Anglia’s longest heritage railway - the Mid Norfolk Railway, with steam and diesel trains to choose from. Just outside Dereham you can step back in time with a visit to Gressenhall Rural Life Museum and discover what traditional country life was like in Norfolk.
