The property

At the heart of the Norfolk beach village Heacham is the idyllic Driftwood Cottage. This holiday home is immaculately furnished throughout and ideal for a family retreat or seaside getaway close to the unspoiled Norfolk coastline. An inviting twin room, a second bedroom with bunk beds, and a double bedroom with a TV and DVD player are all located on the first floor. After a day at the beach, the family bathroom provides both a bath and shower so you can wash off the day’s adventures however you prefer. No matter what the weather is outside, the soothing crackle of the woodburning stove in the sitting room provides the perfect place to relax with a good book or film after a day full of exploration. You have everything you need in the well-equipped kitchen to cook up some delectable meals to enjoy in the family dining room. A utility room connects to the patio and garden area which houses a barbecue; on sunny evenings why not fire it up and indulge in an alfresco affair? A good selection of stores and taverns are located in the village centre, which is only a short stroll away; as is the lovely sandy beach where you can enjoy evening strolls under the iconic sunsets that this area is known for. Explore the area’s royal roots by venturing to the nearby Sandringham Estate where you can tour its extensive grounds and woodland or admire its collection of royal artefacts. A plethora of classic coastal attractions, such as amusements, a sea life centre, or even a ride on the wash monster out into the wash to see the seals, are available at nearby Hunstanton. You can enjoy these boat rides in and around the wash in any number of quaint fishing villages dotted along the Norfolk coast, including Wells and Blakeney which both boast their own attractions, nature reserves, historic sites and of course stunning beaches. Expect all this and more at Driftwood Cottage.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £300.

About the location

HEACHAM

Hunstanton 2.5 miles; King's Lynn 15 miles.

Heacham is a large village located on the West Norfolk coastline, on The Wash, boasting a lovely family friendly sandy beach, ideal for jet skis, kitesurfing and windsurfing. The village has many cottages built from Carstone, which is a feature of this part of Norfolk, and also offers a good range of shops, restaurants and country pubs. Within walking distance is Caley Hall, home to Norfolk Lavender with its sweet smelling lavender fields, and Heacham Hall, owned by John Rolfe, who brought his young bride Pocahontas to England to live at the hall (in the local church of St Mary you will find a memorial to her). This part of Norfolk is renowned for its abundance of birdlife throughout the year, with several local RSPB sites, while within easy driving distance is Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens, as seen on BBC's Springwatch. Nearby Hunstanton offers traditional seaside entertainment including a sealife centre, while The Queen's Sandringham Estate is just a 15 minute drive.
