“A beautiful little lodge, that could easily be a home.”
When we arrived we noticed bread/toast crumbs on the side around the toaster, and while opening the draws to find cutlery we found two dirty stained tissues in the draw.
The plate drainer was dirty and had dried food stuck on it, and there where 2 dirty mugs in the cupboard.
The seating area was cosy, but the settees only took 2 adults wach so we had one of our party on a plastic dining chair.
We had to move one wing backed chair, to turn a light on (but it had no bulb in it) and we noticed an old cotton bud on the skirting board. There where also several cobwebs around the lights and window frames.
As it was known at booking that there would be 8 of us, and only 6 beds had been made up, we had to go I to the cleaning cupboard to find bedding to make up the landing bed, that eventually never got used.
I know that my party of 8 where only there for 1 night, but we did feel that the lodge did not comfortably sleep 8. The pull out bed at the top of the stairs was totally unusable, and 1 of our party slept on one of the 2 seater settees.
I understand the heating is controlled by hive, but in the early hours the lodge got very cold, and it would have been nice to have the option of turning the heating up if needed.
All of my party were in agreement, that all the beds where a little too firm, and would happily do a night but certainly could not manage more two at most, which is a shame. We understand beds must be hard wearing but maybe a slightly softer bed would be more pleasing.
