The property

Dereham 3.8 miles. Dragonfly Lodge is tucked away between the towns of Whinburgh and Garvestone. This property is in an environmentally friendly area of natural beauty where plants, fish, birds, damselflies and dragonflies can be admired and birds can be seen nesting between March and June. It is located in a serene, peaceful area surrounded by grassland and lakes. For couples, families, groups of friends, and lone travellers alike, this lovely lodge on the water's edge offers the perfect getaway. Once inside, the living and kitchen areas are open to stunning views of the lake and surrounding grassland. A wonderful large sun room with rattan furniture is to the front of the property and is accessible through the living room. It is perfect for watching wildlife at any time of year or just relaxing with a good book. There is a twin bedroom and a double bedroom with a shared bathroom facing the back of the house. The private decking patio that stretches out to the water's edge is accessible through doors from the sun room. During the warmer months, the terrace is perfect for outdoor eating, nature viewing, or simply unwinding and sunbathing. When you can drag yourself away, there is a lot to enjoy close by. You can go for fantastic walks just outside your door, bike along country lanes that connect charming market towns and villages, or jump in the car and travel to historical, coastal, and cultural locations. It's well worth checking out the frequent music and fish and chips events run by the Mid Norfolk Railway steam train. Enjoy fantastic astronomy and satellite viewing on clear nights. If you can drag yourself away from its stunning surroundings, this lovely lodge's central location in Norfolk makes it the ideal starting point for exploring the region. You struggle to recall that you have easy access to so many attractions nearby as you drive through the trees up to the lakes and arrive at your lakeside lodge since it is tucked away in a forest on an unpaved road. Dereham, a neighbouring market town with a fantastic assortment of stores, cafes, and restaurants, is definitely worth a visit. Don't miss the historic city of Norwich if you appreciate shopping and culture. There is a wide variety of shopping opportunities there, as well as events and historical attractions including cathedrals, castles, and museums. Drive up to the Norfolk coast to take in the lively fishing villages and beach resorts. The county is home to a number of nature preserves and attractive stately homes, in addition to the royal Sandringham residence with its spectacular palace and gardens. You'll want to come back to East Anglia every year after staying at Dragonfly Lodge, which is a fantastic holiday house.

Yaxham 1 mile; Dereham 3.8 miles, Hingham 5.4 miles.

This friendly and picturesque village has a beautiful church and provides a local pub which serves excellent Mexican food if you fancy a night off from cooking. There is also a park where you can take the dogs for a stroll and have a kick about with the children. The nearby village of Yaxham has a mill with a restaurant, a church, a local farm shop and be sure to visit Yaxham Waters which has a café and fully enclosed play area with animals for the children to feed. Dereham enjoys excellent local amenities, which include Bishop Bonner’s Cottage Museum, the magnificent 13th century church of St Nicholas, along with a wide selection of high street shops. On the edge of Dereham you can enjoy a journey on East Anglia’s longest heritage railway - the Mid Norfolk Railway, with steam and diesel trains to choose from. Just outside Dereham you can step back in time with a visit to Gressenhall Rural Life Museum and discover what traditional country life was like in Norfolk. A fantastic part of Norfolk to visit at any time of the year.
