    “We chose the Old Rectory Coach House for its secluded location and because it looked like it would meet all our needs on the Sykes website.”

    What we didn’t realise was that we were about to spend a week in an exquisitely renovated Coach House, adjoining one of Norfolk’s finest homes that has been developed from what was a 1858 Victorian Rectory. The time, effort, and care that Rachel and Grenville have put into restoring this Norfolk gem is remarkable. From the moment we arrived and opened the door, we knew we would be very comfortable here. We were also delighted to find a thoughtful welcome pack of cake, milk, tea, and coffee ...

    What we didn’t realise was that we were about to spend a week in an exquisitely renovated Coach House, adjoining one of Norfolk’s finest homes that has been developed from what was a 1858 Victorian Rectory. The time, effort, and care that Rachel and Grenville have put into restoring this Norfolk gem is remarkable. From the moment we arrived and opened the door, we knew we would be very comfortable here. We were also delighted to find a thoughtful welcome pack of cake, milk, tea, and coffee waiting for us – such a lovely touch that immediately made us feel at home and in the hands of truly attentive hosts. Five stars doesn’t really do this property justice. It has everything (and more) that you could possibly need, and the beautifully decorated rooms create a calming, peaceful atmosphere that was wonderful to come back to after a day out exploring. Rachel and Grenville greeted us warmly on arrival and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. We cannot recommend the Old Rectory Coach House highly enough – it is a true Norfolk treasure, and we look forward to returning.

Settled in the south of Norfolk just beneath the bustling city of Norwich, is this charming little village, Rockland St Mary. It is near to the long and winding River Yare, and is within reach of the amazing man-made Broads, providing a great spot to explore this area's wonders. Within the village you can find a village store and Post Office, along with a pub, and several other local businesses, offering all you need for a self-catered stay. For keen canoeists, make sure to get out on the waters, with several parts of the River Yare being excellent for canoeing and sailing, or if you prefer walking then explore on foot either straight along the river or in and around the area. Travel to the city of Norwich to see the amazing cathedral, and browse the selection of eateries and pubs as well as great shopping opportunities. Serving as a fantastic base from which to enjoy the best of south Norfolk, Rockland St Mary is a delightful place to stay.
