    “A review of two halves.”

The cottage is in a lovely location and is within walking distance to everything in Blakeney. On the surface the cottage was clean. Clean living areas and bedrooms. Linen clean and beds were comfortable. However that is where it ended with attention to detail. Washing machine was dirty, tea coffee and sugar jars were thick with grease and dirt as was the oven cloves. Dish rack in the draining board was rusty and dirty. We decided it wasn't up to standard to cook our own meals in the cottage so ate out during our stay. The stair gates and banister were filthy and had never been cleaned. The shower cubical doors downstairs was also cleaned to a poor stranded and the whole ground floor bathroom was too small and unusable. Would be better putting a shower cubicle in the first floor bathroom and just have a wc downstairs. The shower in the bath was unusable as you could not get a good temperature mix, it was either hot or cold. The light over the dining table fell out of the ceiling with bare wires expised. Obviously this had happened previously as the fitting was bodged with insulation tape to keep the screws in the ceiling. The fire extinguisher was also covered in grease and dust so obviously hadn't been checked for a long time. When we arrived there was no hot water and had to search for the emersion to heat it up. Not much info provided by the owner apart from putting the bins out on a Tuesday when in fact the bin men arrived early Monday morning. You're also told not not to unplug the heaters in the cottage but most of them were unplugged. Update info too as the car park is now £8 a day and not £7. Overall. We wouldn't consider this cottage value for money in the present condition.
