Description

Driftway Stables Retreat is a 450-yr old timber framed post medieval cottage tucked away along a 300-metre track, sitting in the centre of its own 12 acres of land with an abundance of wildlife right on your doorstep.

Oozing charm and character in every room with its ancient inglenooks, wonky floors and low beamed ceilings.

It offers a truly peaceful retreat for couples and families who enjoy nature and the wildlife rich countryside with walks direct from the property and the owners’ horses on site.

You are welcome to pet the horses and assist the owners at feed times.

Tucked away from the bustle, step inside this traditional and comfortable home, the sort of place where days unfold gently, shaped by walks, good food and time spent together.

Upon arrival you have a key safe so you can arrive at your leisure.

A welcome food pack awaits you in the fully equipped kitchen set up for self-catering, along with an honesty bar for a cold drink.

The sitting room is a welcoming place to settle into with its woodburning stove under a massive inglenook, complete with witchy carvings to keep out evil spirits!

adding to all of its character as you curl up with a book, a film, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.

Awaiting you up one flight of steep stairs are two large luxurious bedrooms and a twin bedroom with flickering candles.

One has an inglenook and en-suite WC and basin with a well-presented shower room serving all three bedrooms.

The garden is a peaceful spot to enjoy morning coffee or sit and listen to the evening chorus of birds and the deer’s barking whilst soaking up the calm of the surrounding countryside.

There is ample off-road parking, even a secure dry barn for precious cars or motorbikes.

From the cottage, you can walk to The White Horse pub with your dog and enjoy a meal in its award-winning restaurant.

We received a warm welcome from the owners Tina and Mark.

The property is delightfully quirky and full of character. It has a lovely lounge and comfortable large beds. It was fully equipped with everything we needed, and we were surprised by the nice welcome pack. Lots of nice places close by to visit, picturesque villages and only 45 minutes from Norwich park and ride. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and we would love to return.

An absolute gem of a cottage.

Quirky, classy furnishings, well equipped and in a peaceful convenient location. Tina and Mark could not have been more welcoming to us. It was a bonus to be able to make friends with the beautiful horses alongside Tina during her feeding and care rounds. We will be looking to go again for a longer period next year.

WOW, Driftway Stables Retreat was an absolute pleasure from beginning to end.

Tina and Mark could not have been more accommodating to us and thoroughly deserve top rating. The cottage is like going back in history, beautifully presented with everything you need for a comfortable holiday. The peace and quiet is superb, we all slept like "logs" in the huge comfy beds. We had BBQ's in the garden and walked to the local pub - which is about half a mile. The icing on the cake for me, was being allowed to help Tina feed the horses, under her supervision, which was brilliant. Diss is only 6 miles away, a small town with all amenities and good local history. We also found a local Garden Centre with a very good and reasonably priced restaurant/cafe and only about 3 miles from the cottage. This was an excellent property and holiday choice and would certainly recommend it. Tina and Mark are outstanding hosts and nothing was too much trouble, we felt extremely well looked after. We will definitely be going back again and a HUGE thank you to both of them.
