“We hate to leave a negative review as we have stayed, happily, in many cottages but we feel that potential guests should be made aware of a few things.”

The parking is a nightmare! It is on a very busy main road, making it challenging/stressful to access the inadequate single parking space, which itself is further restricted by an overgrown hedge & poorly positioned bins. The parking is a nightmare! It is on a very busy main road, making it challenging/stressful to access the inadequate single parking space, which itself is further restricted by an overgrown hedge & poorly positioned bins. Reversing out is hazardous/dangerous due to the very busy road & junction directly opposite & reversing in leaves you unable to access the rear of your vehicle without blocking the pavement. The winding stairs, as briefly mentioned in the property description, are extremely narrow & steep, which combined with the loose handrail make descending them, especially at night, not for the faint hearted or anyone who is not very sure footed! The kitchen & its contents are in need of a deep clean/de-clutter/complete reorganisation. We found some cupboards & their contents dirty - there were 26 assorted dinner plates but only 3 dessert spoons! Everything is mismatched with many items unfit for purpose & in dire need of replacement. Whilst eclectic can be charming, this cottage appears to have become a depository for excess/unwanted household ephemera which all add to the sense of unnecessary clutter in an already confined space, especially in the kitchen. For a cottage that sleeps 4 (if you don’t mind walking through one bedroom to get to the other) (definitely not suitable for young children) the kitchen had 5 chairs & 3 bar stools, leaving little space to comfortably sit around the table. Whilst the ‘twee’ Welsh dresser (with its collection of a few odd pots & broken drawer handles) was nice enough to look at, it served no practical purpose other than to occupy much needed space in an already cramped environment. The magazine rack in the lounge was crammed with, many years out of date, tourist information leaflets - many of which were almost a decade out of date. Reading reviews, the difficulty in getting off the low, uncomfortable settee has clearly been an issue with guests for some time - but yet to be addressed. All of these things were a shame as this cottage has the potential, with a bit of attention, to be much better.

Thank you for your feedback. However, we do feel it is important to clarify a few points. The property description does clearly outline key features such as the parking arrangements and the nature of the stairs, allowing guests to make an informed decision prior to booking. As with many traditional cottages, some of these elements are characteristic of the property rather than faults. We are disappointed that these concerns have only been raised post-departure, particularly given your positive feedback on arrival, but we do appreciate your comments have been noted. Property Owner
