“Within 30 minutes of arrival a bathroom pipe burst and 2 “ of water spread throughout bungalow which needed massive cleanup and plumber, no facilities available.”
My wife who is disabled was marooned on walker in corner. We had no alternative but to return home. Unbelievably we are being refused a refund and impossible to get a response from Sykes. We have used them for many years - never again.
I am very sorry that this happened right at the start of your holiday and clearly I had no idea the pipe was going to burst. The water, which was clean mains water, was confined to the bathroom and kitchen and did not spread throughout the bungalow. Unfortunately, you did not give us the opportunity to rectify the situation and left after aprox 45mins of it happening without contacting Sykes to check the procedure. Had you not have left so quickly, you would have seen that the plumber replaced the pipe and the water was all cleaned up and dried very quickly. We did ring you the following morning to explain and offered you the opportunity to return and slide your dates to start again, but you refused. Once again, I am very sorry this happened but feel we did everything possible to speedily rectify this unforeseen event.
