It was far from the high standard we usually receive when we book with Sykes.
1. The bathroom was in a poor decorative condition. The radiator was rusty and did not always heat up. The bathroom itself seemed dated and not in good condition. Surfaces had not been cleaned and the shower cubicle had discoloured grout. The toiletry holder in the shower was also rusty.
2. There was obviously a problem with the heating system. When it came on it was very noisy and the radiators did not always ...

1. The bathroom was in a poor decorative condition. The radiator was rusty and did not always heat up. The bathroom itself seemed dated and not in good condition. Surfaces had not been cleaned and the shower cubicle had discoloured grout. The toiletry holder in the shower was also rusty.
2. There was obviously a problem with the heating system. When it came on it was very noisy and the radiators did not always heat up. On the last morning we woke up we had no heating or hot water. This was remedied by early afternoon.
3. We used the washing machine, but our clothes came out with black bits on them. On closer inspection we could see that water had collected in the seals and the machine had not been maintained.
4. The outside area had not been prepared for visitors. The outside dryer had algae on it, as did the table for sitting out. The area where the table was situated had not been cleared of moss and weeds. We had a period of good weather before and during our visit so would have liked to have made more use of this.
The cottage was spacious for two people but lacked the care and attention to make a comfortable holiday property.
Thank you for taking the time to give feedback on your recent stay at Moonlight Cottage. It was disappointing that you could not have raised your concerns with us during your stay, because, as I mentioned when I saw you shortly after you arrived, we live on site and are very keen to sort out any potential problems should they arise. We clean both our properties (Moonlight Cottage and Sweetbriar Barn) and take pride in ensuring that the highest standards are maintained. The vast majority of our guests enjoy their experience at our cottages, and we are sorry that this was not the case for you. Chris and Dave
