“Whilst we were very happy with Carrstone Cottage we were informed that there was a problem with the flooding in the back garden… this seems to be ongoing & caused by the neighbouring property.”
However, it would be so much nicer not having to pick our way to & fro on the matting as the dog didn’t understand that so traipsed wet feet indoors each time (we did our best to dry her feet each time).
Within an hour of arriving we received a message that the boiler was in trouble and wasn’t producing a constant flow of hot water so bathing was going to be a problem.
Unfortunately, despite the landlord organising British Gas attendance a few days later, it couldn’t be resolved that ...

Unfortunately, despite the landlord organising British Gas attendance a few days later, it couldn’t be resolved that week so our stay meant boiling kettles enough for the two of us to share the bath water ( bird bath!) only twice during our stay. It wasn’t ideal but it was our decision to remain at the property as we’d had a 5 hour journey there & really didn’t fancy being relocated.
Given that we were out walking the dog a few times per day down to the beach (as planned & anticipated) we expected a bath each evening too… washing in limited hot water wasn’t ideal.
We were hopeful that the boiler would be fixed on the Monday & by then we definitely were settled into the property so it was disappointing to come back to the same problem & continued lack of decent hot water.
It wasn’t the owners fault just frustrating that in this day & age “parts” for boilers have to be ordered and it takes a week or so to fix something. The boiler hadn’t packed up completely so we were surprised no repair had been done.
I’d like some compensation back. If I didn’t plan on bathing I’d have gone camping.
On a more positive note though, we would stay at Carrstone again. Very comfortable, secure and with a lot of thought gone into making it a good stay for all.
