Oct 26 A lovely property in a prime location by the river, however the property is in need of a deep clean.

We have visited Tealby many times but have noticed a decline in the standards of maintenance and cleaning. As stated by previous clients there are cobwebs all around the property. Particularly in the bedrooms, behind bed heads and walls and ceilings. The kitchen also has ongoing problems as previously mentioned. The grease trap under the sink continues to smell terrible and the pipes under the sink leak. Water leaks from the sink cupboard out onto the floor. We put a glass dish under the pipes and emptied it regularly. There is a gap at the back of the cupboard so we presumed that water was also going down there. The washing machine was very dirty so we had to give it a good clean before we could use it. This has also been mentioned by previous clients. We also had to clean out the tumble drier filter and water trap. Also water is still leaking out onto the floor. As previously mentioned by clients the downstairs on suite toilet is very brown due too limescale. It’s quite off putting and can be easily rectified. Previously to Sykes taking over we always had clean towels and bedding for the second week. I spoke to one of the cleaning team who were in Reedlings and he told me we would get clean linen etc. This didn’t happen. I also left a message on the office answering machine. Know one returned my call. We love the place but it seems that as the price goes up the standards are falling. We are told on arrival to let the office know within a couple of hours of any problems but these are issues you discover as you begin to live in the place. We are booked for Christmas and also next October and I do hope that standards will have improved.

We love Tealby and book year on year.

But the outside could do with a really good clean, all the blinds need replacing. Washing machine needs a good clean. Apart from that we do love the place, it's in a beautiful spot with lovely views up and down the river.

It’s a beautiful house in a lovely setting with masses of room for parking cars.

However, as the weather was so hot during our weeks stay the fans that were provided just pushed around warm air. The front upstairs bedroom and the lounge area are in full sun all afternoon and get very hot. They are both floor to ceiling glass too, which doesn’t help. Perhaps an outside awning or sail type blind would provide shade and help to keep them cooler in the daytime. We kept the indoor vertical blinds closed in the daytime but that didn’t help much. Also there aren’t any heavy lined curtains at any windows, which may have helped to keep the heat out. We had a problem with the hob on day two but we called the number provided and the maintenance man came to fix it. He was very helpful and got the power to it restored. The back left hand side ring of the ceramic job wasn’t working though but we managed without it. If the heat in the house in the summer could be sorted out, as our summers are predicted to get hotter. we would definitely return again. If it hadn’t have been for the excessive heat in the house it would have been a 10 out of 10.
