“Clare welcomed us on our arrival and supplied some information regarding the area.”

There was a welcome pack of milk, bread, eggs and jam which was a nice touch. However on entering the property we were disappointed to find that it appeared no cleaning had been carried out. There was a welcome pack of milk, bread, eggs and jam which was a nice touch. However on entering the property we were disappointed to find that it appeared no cleaning had been carried out. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in corners and beside and between cabinets. There was also dirt around the edge of the floor. We did a basic clean with the available vacuum cleaner but a mop would have been handy. The top of the cooker was clean, however inside the oven was very dirty so we felt couldn’t be used. We cleaned the inside of the microwave so we were able to make use. The shower cubicles doors were missing and a shower curtain had been hung I assume as a temporary measure. The mastic around the base of the cubicle had broken down and there was black mould in corners. There was also mould in areas of the ceiling and wall. PAT testing was carried out on 80% of alliances and was dated April 2024. The fire extinguisher was a foam type with no inspection date in evidence but the pressure was in the green. It looked like it had been taken from somewhere else, as the brackets had pot rivets still in it and the bottom had cobwebs underneath. However all said, given a deep clean and a fresh coat of paint and a few maintenance issues carried out It would be a good place to stay. The area is great within easy reach of lots of interesting places. Just not for us as it is. We left a day early.
