“A nice gated entry when approaching giving you a sense of privacy and security to the property.”

The car park is separate to the property meaning the 1st and last day is a small walk back and forth with your bags, but otherwise reasonable. We stayed in ‘Sycamore Cottage’ and the property’s 1st impression was welcoming with all the things you would need for the stay. Nice welcome biscuits, PG tips tea bags and Nescafé coffee sachets with a pint of milk in the fridge to start you off, which was all a nice touch. We stayed in ‘Sycamore Cottage’ and the property’s 1st impression was welcoming with all the things you would need for the stay. Nice welcome biscuits, PG tips tea bags and Nescafé coffee sachets with a pint of milk in the fridge to start you off, which was all a nice touch. The property cleanliness was average in our view as the amount of history of cobwebs was visible everywhere especially in ceilings and corners. Worst cobwebs seen are within the ironing board store shelving areas, main bedroom built in wardrobe 2 side shelving areas and the kitchen cupboard where the pots and pans are stored. The main bathroom’s toilet seat we think was in the process of being fixed as seat was loose, with the metal screw cover caps still in its wrapper, left sitting in the corner wall cupboard. In addition, the shower trap cover needs replacing, as it is only resting over the shower tray outlet. We were only provided with 2 extra toilet rolls plus the 2 existing ones on the roll holder which was not enough for a family of 4, for 7 nights. Would suggest you bring extra/ spares. We reported that the toaster appeared unsafe as the plastic deformed rim around the toast slots has a history of melting. The owners were very quick in response and replaced the toaster the next day. The dishwasher during our stay was also temperamental and any selected program would only wash when it feels like it, and we therefore ended up washing dishes the traditional way.

“Weather was very hot, luckily all the curtains were closed on arrival, but the accommodation didn't have a fan and we had to open the windows.”

Showers could do with a little more attention, doors face a wall and are difficult to open. Floor in the shower rooms required a good clean , especially in the corners. Only 3 castors on one of the arm chairs. Didn't use it. WiFi went down day after we arrived. Jane , said due to the extreme heat. It returned, 48 hours later.

“Another enjoyable stay at Sycamore Cottage.”

The cottage was clean, tidy, and comfortable, and it’s in a great location for visiting Cromer and Wells-next-the-Sea. During our stay there was a leaking gutter which caused some noise on the windowsill overnight when it rained. This was reported, although it wasn’t resolved while we were there. Overall, this didn’t detract from our enjoyment, and we would happily stay again and recommend the cottage to others.

“The property was excellent.”

Very clean and comfortable. A couple of cold days while we were there, the heating automatically came on and we were warm enough. Well maintained. Comfy beds. Lovely court yard with the property’s all around. Would definitely recommend to friends to stay there.

“We stayed in the twin room with shower room adjacent.”

Several times during our stay, one of us became locked in the shower room. It was decided that we would just pull the door to, but this made us nervous that it would swing open. We informed the owner onsite and she said it would be rectified. We did enjoy our stay in the cottage and are likely to book again in the future.

“A lovely holiday cottage and the owners and manager were extremely helpful WHEN we eventually got a contact number for them personally just a week or two before our stay .”

We found communication with Sykes Holiday Cottages VERY frustrating. After asking questions on their online chat no one would be there to answer . Then they would reply at a random time when I was unavailable to chat so said I would have to ask again on a new chat instead of just answering the questions in a reply . No one on a phone line at all . Would hesitate to use that company again as not user friendly ... All the cottages in this small complex were well kept and we really enjoyed our stay .

“It is a lovely holiday home in a beautiful location.”

Very comfortable and beds were really comfy. Everything you need for a family holiday. The cottage was clean but the only thing I would say is a deeper clean would be better as there were cobwebs and spiders when we first arrived in the cottage. Despite this, I would still recommend this cottage and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

“A little off the beaten track, but a lovely location.”

The second bathroom was unexpected but so welcome. The proximity to the coast and cycle rides were very important to us, and though the rain was very heavy at times we stayed dry throughout.

“The cottage is situated in the Norfolk countryside but with easy access to Holt, Fakenham and Sherringham.”

Sycamore is one of several converted farm buildings surrounding a small courtyard. Both inside and outside maintained to a high standard. Although Sycamore is on a working farm, there were no agricultural noises, animal or machinary, to distrub the bucolic atomsphere.

“We had a very enjoyable stay at the cottage which we found to be well situated for getting around the area.”

The facilities in the cottage were exactly what we needed although a smart TV would have been nice as we had to watch some programs on a laptop. The overall presentation of the cottage was good although a more thorough clean would in order as there are quite a few cobwebs around. The beds are very comfortable and heating works very well, we even found the internet to be very good although the mobile signal is not great which could be considered a holiday benefit. There is plenty to do in the local area although eating out is a bit hit and miss.

Wood Norton is a small village in rural north Norfolk, close to the market town of Fakenham. Just two miles from Wood Norton is the village of Foulsham which has a local shop and a pub with a restaurant. Fakenham is just six miles away and is home to a national hunt racecourse and has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The popular market town of Holt is close by and is well known for a wonderful array of independent food stores, craft shops, tea rooms and restaurants. Further afield are the seaside villages of Wells and Blakeney as well as the more traditional resorts of Cromer and Sheringham. The cathedral city of Norwich is a wonderful location for a day out, plus there are many National Trust properties in the area just waiting to be discovered.
