    “First impressions of Mayfield weren’t good as we were greeted with dirt on the Hall carpet as we opened the door.”

    We had a long journey with very busy traffic, therefore we were ready for a cup of tea on arrival. To our disappointment there was no welcome pack, only a few coffee sachets & teabags & no fresh milk in the fridge, not even 1 pint, however we did find some milk sachets that were 6 months out of date. The beds available consisted of 4 off 2ft 6inch mattresses each, which could be put together for 2 adults, but we still had to sleep on bunk bed size mattresses. On the plus side the bedding & ...

On the plus side the bedding & towels were very good and clean + the neighbourhood was quiet & ideally located in Cromer. The lounge area felt very sterile with no cushions on the sofa to help you relax after a busy day. Cleanliness of Mayfield wasn’t to a great standard, we didn’t use the washing up bowl provided in the kitchen as it was thick with grease, the sink had no plug to use. Although the sink & bath were clean, it was obvious that the toilet had not been given the same attention at the bottom of the pan. The bungalow has access issues into the back garden, you have to go out of the front door and go through a bolted gate into the back, this would lead to concerns of safe play for toddlers outside the home. We were due to stay until Friday but decided to leave on Wednesday as we didn’t sleep well due to the tiny width of the mattresses, it would have been much better with 3ft mattresses as there is plenty of room in the bedrooms for them. We have stayed in many Sykes listed cottages over the years but have to say this is not one of the best.

Mayfield Drive is a comfortable, detached bungalow offering guests a perfect base for exploring Cromer and Norfolk. Step inside and each room branches off from the hallway; to the left is the sitting room with a dining area, with seating for up to six people - a lovely space to enjoy a family meal. With two leather sofas in the lounge, where you can relax and unwind after a long day and enjoy the benefits of the TV and DVD player. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could need for your stay, with a quirky green-style carpet, giving the room a splash of colour. Towards the front of the house there are three bedrooms; one double and one twin with zip and link features, offering flexibility with sleeping arrangements and a small bedroom with cabin bunk beds - ideal for children. With a range of wooden furniture to house all your personal items. There is a shared family bathroom for all guests, with the choice of a bath and shower over. The lounge overlooks the enclosed back garden - a perfect space for relaxing after a day out exploring. There is off-road parking for two cars. Cromer has a range of amenities, including a pier and a popular beach for guests to enjoy. Guests can enjoy the wonderful Norfolk coastline, take a drive or cycle along the coastal path and enjoy the network of pretty coastal villages along the way. Wildlife lovers will enjoy the wonderful bird life of the Norfolk Coast or why not take a boat trip from Blakeney and see the seals. There is also a Zoo close by which is an ideal family day out. The area offers excellent cycling, walking and golfing for active guests. The Norfolk Broads is just a short drive away, take a day boat out and explore the waterways by boat, we guarantee it will be a memorable day. For those with an interest in trains and transport there is the Poppy Line, which is a steam train running between Sheringham and Holt throughout the summer months, offering a ‘hop on hop off’ service. Mayfield Drive is ideal for families, couples and friends wishing to explore the area. With so much to do close by you will be returning again and again!

The popular North Norfolk seaside town of Cromer is known for its wonderful clifftop promenade, with attractive, colourful gardens and seating areas ideally placed for enjoying the stunning panoramic views over the sea. Cromer has a lovely, sandy Blue Flag beach where both children and adults can spend hours building sand castles, swimming, sunbathing or investigating the tidal pools in search of interesting sea creatures, which include young Cromer crabs. Cromer is proud of its beautiful Victorian pier, offering theatre shows, a museum and an RNLI lifeboat station, which is open to visitors and where you can learn about Cromer’s long lifeboat history. The town centre offers a variety of shops, cafés, restaurants, public houses and amusements, while local golf courses can be found at Cromer, Sheringham and West Runton. This part of North Norfolk offers many places of interest to visit, including the National Trust’s Sheringham Park and Felbrigg Hall, both enjoying wonderful woodland areas for walks and picnics, along with the Norfolk Shire Horse Centre, Amazona Zoo and the Hilltop Outdoor Adventure Centre. Take a nostalgic journey on a steam train at nearby Sheringham, or spend a day driving or cycling along North Norfolk’s beautiful coastline, stopping off to explore its salt marshes and nature reserves rich with birdlife.
