There were trip hazards from the patio door onto the patio and then from the patio onto the lawn where the standard of finish was sorley lacking. An accident waiting to happen for a child or an elderly person. Someone had obviously spilt a brown liquid on the patio threshold at some point. There is a major issue with the water pressure to the s howers. The water initially runs warm and normally, soon after the pressure drops to little more than a trickle then comes asudden blast of cold water which then warms up to a good flow, then the process is repeated. The owner told us the combi boiler had been serviced/checked and he wasn't aware of a problem. We were unable to use the shower in the en-suite and bathroom at the same time. The other odd things was with the lights in the living room area. The ceiling spot lights worked from 2 separate switches. The lights nearest the kitchen were fine but the ones near the seting area flashed after being on for circa a minute. Needless to say we switched them off. The welcome pack was a nice gesture but the unopened box of Fox's Classic biscuits was out of date on the 14/6/2025. As much as we liked the area we won't be going back to Harbour Place.
Thank you for your feedback, many of the issues we have already discussed in person and I offered to remedy immediately and compensate for, which you refused. As an owner who takes feedback personally, it’s always difficult to read unfavourable reviews. While we can never guarantee that an issue won’t arise, we can guarantee we will do our utmost to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.
Owing to two weeks of poor cleaning, we have replaced the cleaning company today. For the lack of thorough cleaning (you mentioned bathrooms/beds/kitchen were spotless) I can only apologise as you refused my offer of additional cleaning. It’s extremely frustrating being let down by contractors. As you mentioned in your own words, “you have a beautiful place but have been let down badly by the cleaners.”
As a matter of fairness and transparency I will also address your other comments:
-I cannot agree about any trip hazards as everything has been signed off and these have never been mentioned before by any previous guests being concerned. There is a small step down from the back door but that is smaller than the front door step, which you did not mention? The separation between the patio and grass is a gravel soak away.
-We have ordered new garden seating but it had not arrived during your stay. You advised us that this was not a problem as only a small crack on one back slat is the issue.
-The thermostat on the shower has been forced too far one way during your stay and the restricter broken. This is the reason for the issues with water temperature. A new cartridge has been installed today. You refused a plumber during your stay.
-The dining area and the living area are on separate dimmers. If the dimmer is set too low, the lights flicker
We are glad you enjoyed the contents of the welcome box but your comment about the biscuit best before date is not valid. The empty box left in the hamper meant we could verify the biscuits were in date during your stay, bought in May 2025.
