Basic cleaning (e.g. toilets, shower) ok but not at all thorough overall. Either the cleaners are lazy or the owner is not prepared to pay them for enough time. Filthy outside table and chairs, one chair has a split in the back in which clothing gets caught. Sky box absolutely covered in dust, as are most little used surfaces such as wardrobe tops, one settee needs urgent vacuuming to remove detritus in various 'button' depressions caused by its design. 'Front door' very wonky and needs adjustment urgently. In fact, it was so bad we used the back door during our entire stay except for picking up and leaving it's key.
No tin opener for goodness sake, supposed to be self catering!! Only 4 dessert spoons, non-stick saucepans need replacing as aluminium shows through and insufficient utensils anyway for use in non-stick saucepans.
Woken up one morning by someone coming to spray for the ant problem around the house who was surprised we had not been told he was coming. Not a good start to a holiday day.
Would absolutely not book this place again.
I was very concerned to read your feedback but thank you for providing it. As owners, we are saddened to read it as we strive to always exceed guest expectations.
We would encourage our guests to let us know in the first instance if there are any issues as we are very proactive and would have taken measures to address your concerns immediately. I’m unsure why you did not highlight the cleaning issue to me personally when I checked in with you at the start of your stay?
The cleaners are contracted by job rather than time and assure us they take the time needed to clean the property, which was obviously below our usual high standard on this occasion. I can only apologise for this and will follow up with the cleaning company.
I’m unsure regarding your concern with the front door as it has just been inspected and certainly is not wonky.
A tin opener should have been present as should the required amount of cutlery. If these are missing due to being mistakenly taken or broken by previous guests, once notified, we would have arranged for replacements immediately. Utensils are also supplied in abundance.
The pest control for ants is a routine preventative measure (rather than a problem) and is carried out by a third party who have strict instructions that they can only attend after checkout time at 10am. I apologise that they have not followed the instructions on this occasion and will address this with them directly.
