The Duck House

Hi this is our second stay at the Duckhouse, it is the most relaxing place we have ever stayed at plenty of walks and even though the weather was a little wet we dodged the showers and had some lovely walks around Thomson, Wayland Wood and parts of Thetford Forest, after all that it was lovely to come back to the Duckhouse and jump on the hot tub which is fully enclosed in a building (which is unusual as they are usually only under a canopy at best) to ease our aches from the walks, when we needed to contact the owners they were most helpful and kind, if we could give this place a twenty as it is so lovely we will come back again as we feel that it is our very home from home in Norfolk.

Duck house is a lovely place to stay, very comfortable and quiet.

The kitchen is on the small side and could do with a bit more worktop area, but it's perfectly functional. The parking space is at the end of the cottage, which is fine, apart from the fact that telephone wires cross this area and the numerous pigeons tend to sit on them and every morning the car was covered in pigeon droppings, so be prepared to start your morning by clearing them off the car. Apart from that, Duck House is a lovely place to stay.

We have enjoyed a week staying at Duck House.

It has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay. The only improvements I would suggest and this is not a criticism just a suggestion is that due to the owners being away on holiday when we arrived I think little things where overlooked. We only had 2 teaspoons and 2 half pint glasses, I know there was only 2 of us but when a dishwasher is included you do need more cutlery and crockery. We bought more teaspoons and have left them for other guests. Louise kindly brought us 2 more glasses when they arrived back from holiday. The seating and table out side needs to be covered as there are a lot of birds/trees so they were covered in bird droppings and leaves/dust. It would not deter us from using the accommodation again and I would happily recommend it.

A very comfortable and relaxing property to stay in.

Peaceful area. Well laid out . Good provision of commodities including fan very welcome. Plenty of space to move around in living and bedroom area A nice outdoor area to sit with the opportunity to BBQ Drive way entrance narrow for larger vehicle contact with shrubbery on both sides but fine once through A good base to explore the surrounding towns /villages and coast about an hour drive.

Ideal cottage for us as advertised and advised all on one level as one of us is disabled - the hot tub was great and was enclosed which was a huge benefit as the weather did not stop us using it.

Credit to the local council we did not come across a single pot hole so driving and exploring the local area was a pleasure.

We enjoyed our stay at the Duck House and our star rating should be 4.

5 but there's no facility for that. It's a lovely property and Louise was welcoming and helpful. Our only minor issues were the comfort of the bed (too soft for our liking) and the TV is probably ready for an upgrade, we couldn't load ITVx and the wifi was very slow at times. I know these are only personal preferences and we're probably nitpicking as we did have a lovely stay.

The cottage was lovely, clean, bright, and spacious.

It had everything you needed, even sunbeds, and the bed was very comfortable. The owners are lovely and very helpful. We enjoyed our relaxing stay and had a lovely time at the cottage. Hopefully, we will be back next year if our health is good.

We found the duck house to be exactly as described, clean, tidy , with everything we required and a lovely welcome pack.

It was in a very peaceful secluded setting but within easy reach by car of everything Norfolk has to offer. It was lovely to come back after a days sightseeing to relax in the very nice jacuzzi. Many thanks to Duncan and Louise. We hope to return one day.

If you want a quiet retreat this is perfect. We loved the use of the hot tub. The pub in the village serves superb home cooked food. Really excellent place. Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our week here at tge Duck House, for us it was quiet, peaceful and such a lovely place to come back to after a day's walking about and enjoying Norfolk.

The Hot tub for us was fantastic we used nearly every night, we felt relaxed and ready for rge next day after 40 minutes in it. Our holiday was so good it felt like we spent 14 days at Duck House, it was nice that the history of the site was included in the welcome brochure, we always felt that should if we needed to that we could have contacted the owners who lived next door but we were left to our own devices and that suited us on saying that we did make sure we said bye and thanked them for having us at Duck House, we will always remember the relaxing time we had there.

The property was superb in a quiet peaceful part of Norfolk.

A perfect place for a touch of R & R. A nice touch with the welcome items. The hot tub was well used after busy days touring new parts of the county.

Property was great and suited us as we are in our 70’s and have some mobility problems so single level property is a must, the surrounding gardens are beautiful with a tranquil pond with visiting family of Moorhens.

Only issue is not suitable location for all electric vehicles as you cannot charge there overnight, and there limited public charging points in the area. Had I have been in petrol vehicle would say 10 out of 10 for this property, with the owners being first class.

The Duck house was lovely, the garden was kept well, it was lovely and peaceful, we did not use hot tub for personal reasons, but would have done if we could, the welcoming pack was lovely, dressing gowns was a lovely touch.

We met the lady owner but not the husband which was a shame.

The Duck House is absolutely beautiful.

Everything we could have hoped for was there to ensure that our holiday was as enjoyable as possible. From the luxurious furnishings and decor to the bottle of prosecco in the fridge on our arrival, the hot tub that was so relaxing after a day out exploring, and the peace and tranquility of the private garden..... everything was lovely. I was celebrating a big birthday, and it made my day even more special.

We enjoyed a relaxing week in the Duck House.

We found it to be very comfortable and peaceful. We finished each day with a dip in the spacious hot tub before enjoying a glass of wine with dinner. Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday.

The property was lovely and clean and also well maintained, we never had any intentions of eating main meals in , if we did we believe it would have been difficult.

We found several downsides to the property in our personal view. No phone signal EE Wifi continually dropping out Having to wash my car every morning due to pigeons Lack of wardrobe space Chemicals in hot tub burning our eyes Could do with some bigger mugs /cups Tried to contact owners but unable to get through, informed they were on holiday in France so no onsite help.

A lovely week stay at the Duck House, everything we could of asks for.

Loved sitting in the garden listening to the birds. The hot tub was also great. We loved our stay here will definitely book again.

Could use more drawers for clothes storage but I am being picky.

I actually booked this beautiful property for myself and my wife for some much needed time together.

Unfortunately, I became unwell at the last minute so passed the treat on to my parents! They loved every minute even the drive there and back was enjoyed. It was immaculately clean, warm, comfortable, and precisely as described. I guess I will need to book again ?

A lovely quiet cottage for 2.

Well fitted out with all you can want for a long weekend. The hot tub is a bonus.

Comfortable, clean well maintained property.

The hot tub was amazing , everything we needed for a 2 week stay. The extras including Prosecco, jams, milk, orange juice , teas, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits made you feel welcomed. The property benefited from room to room underfloor heating which was fantastic as you could control the temperature in each room. Perfect for individual choices. The property had a washing machine but on rainy days had no where to dry washing , Louise the owner provided us with a airer which we out put to good use. There is ample parking. Both Duncan and Louise were great hosts , gave us the much needed privacy we wanted. Excellent position for walkers with great trails nearby. Deers are a plenty in this beautiful county . Would highly recommend.

It was a very quiet place, and the accomodation was modern and spotless with a big hot tub overlooking the garden. Duncan and Louise went out of their way by providing little extras which made the stay more special. Great location for exploring Norfolk. We highly recommend this property

Tastefully decorated, comfortable and spacious accommodation for two.

The owners were very helpful and there were some lovely extras awaiting us. The Duck House was peaceful, quiet and located in a tiny hamlet but not far from the small town of Watton where any necessary shopping can be done. We had a great time exploring Norfolk and The Duck House was a very convenient location for us.

One of the best hot tubs ever, felt like i was getting a back and shoulder massage in one corner of the tub.

cottage was better then the pictures shown, garden was lovely with nice outside furniture. and some great little extras throw in,which was totally unexpected and a huge bonus . underfloor heating was also fantastic

Hot tub a luxurious bonus!

This is perfect for either exploring the area or walks in the area.

We did some of both. It is a quiet place to stay but with a good pub with good food within walking distance. The Duck house is 5* for quality, comfort, cleanliness and facilities. It was great to have the hot tub indoors but with doors opening out to garden when weather is better one way and other way straight back into your own bathroom to shower off. Owners were close by but not intrusive, very friendly and helpful. The Farm shop close by ok for fresh veg but not much else. We hope to revisit at future date.

The Duck House is a rental of the highest standard.

All the facilities were top quality. The bed and pillows were so comfortable I wanted to take them home. The owners went out of their way to make you welcome by providing lots of little extras. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Hi We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Duck House.

The property was extremely well furnished and had everything we could need and it was spotlessly clean. We met one of the owners and his two beautiful dogs who asked us if there was anything we needed we only had to ask. Their son was extremely helpful and courteous too when he came to check on the Hot Tub. This property was exactly what we were looking for and situated in a beautiful spot.

Five star cottage, facilities and comfort amazing.

Friendly owners who cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. We have had a fantastic much needed break away, the indoor hot tub was a massive bonus.

Peaceful and relaxing with a great Hot Tub

The Duck House is the perfect getaway - 5 star luxury and peace and quiet in a beautiful part of the country.

Duncan and Louise are excellent hosts, who ensured Duck House had everything we needed including secure bike storage, and a lovely welcome package - they were welcoming but unobtrusive. The house is warm and comfortable ( the underfloor heating is great) and the hot tub is a wonderful bonus after a cycle ride or long walk! The house is perfectly situated for exploring North Norfolk and also has wonderful walks and cycle routes on the doorstep. Thoroughly recommended!!

Stayed for four nights December 2021.

The Duck House was very clean and comfortable. The owners have thought of everything. The building appears to be a barn conversion finished to a very high standard. Would certainly recommend to others.

The bed was very creaky and the pillows were uncomfortable but everything else fantastic.

Great romantic getaway for me and my wife.

Perfect place to relax and get away from the city life. Cosy and comfy with all facilities required. Indoor private hot tub was just perfect after a long day out exploring. Would highly recommend. Thank you for having us.

We had a great time, plenty of walking available all around, and would recommend without any reservations.

The cottage was very well set up and felt homely.

Comfort wise, it was only the memory foam mattress that did not suit ourselves, that prevented top marks. The owners are hoping to have cyclists and walkers. It is perfect for this and has the hot tub to relax, after. We took our bikes and used the secure storage provided.

Excellent accommodation, clean and comfortable, and in an ideal location for walking and reasonable proximity to Norwich and the Norfolk coastline.

Can't do anything about the weather, but we wrapped up warm and dry for our walks, and had the luxury of the hot tub on our return every evening. The takeaway food option from the local pub (The Chequers) was another bonus - good food (try the stake & ale pie with their special gravy). Wild life around Duck House is also a joy. We thoroughly recommend Duck House as an ideal escape for two; walking, site seeing, relaxing in the hot tub, and curling up on the very comfortable sofa with a good book and the one you love. Just Brilliant! .

The Duck House was exactly as listed but I have to say you don't really appreciate the fine details untill you actually stay there.

The space was warm and comforting and the hot tub over looking the pond and garden was a joy. Both myself and wife really enjoyed our stay and a big thankyou to our hosts Duncan and Louise. We got to explore around and about and the information pack helped us plan our days. As we were coming out of lockdown we didn't get to try the local pub as their opening times were limited but maybe we will save that for the next time. Once again the Duck house was a lovely romantic place to spend our week.

The Duck House is a very well appointed accommodation and a great get-away for a couple wishing to escape to a quiet spot in rural Norfolk.

There are some great walks in the area amongst the numerous pools (called Pingos) and forests that create an almost swamp-like environment along with abundant wild-life (remember to take binoculars/cameras with you). Alternatively, Thetford, Norwich and Ely are all in easy driving distance, as is the coast line which has some wonderfull beaches/dunes. The hot tub makes a wonderful addition to the Duck House as an extension to the bathroom, and a great way of relaxing in the evening after a day out exploring.

Good location near to amenities.

Really lovely atmosphere and calmness in the area. Lovely to see pheasants and hares every morning, along with the odd duck! We adventured out a bit and found various footpaths and I found cycle tracks for the common adventurer. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. My only criticism, there wasnt a bottle opener or corkscrew! 9.5/10
